Just when I was about to shut everything down and go to bed, I spotted on the list of Twitter trends the heartbreaking news that Daredevil, the TV series that’s one of the very best Marvel shows ever made, is officially canceled.
Why, Netflix, did you cancel an incredible show after all the star-studded epic performances and the amazing battle scenes that made the show such a huge hit? And above all give us Jon Bernthal’s beloved take on The Punisher?
I’m sad that Netflix and Disney have decided to do this along with canceling Iron Fist and Luke Cage. Next thing we’ll know they will cancel Jessica Jones and (GASP!) Punisher!!
I guess Disney and Netflix may have to because they are busy transferring all of the Marvel shows and film to their new streaming service Disney+ which is scheduled to go online in late 2019.
Still, how can this be? Marvel’s other TV shows are having their shows renewed for new seasons. The Runaways are being renewed for Season 2. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is also being renewed for Season 6. Why won’t Daredevil, Iron fist, Luke Cage, and The Defenders get their shows renewed at the same time the Marvel shows are getting transferred to Disney+? Disney+ will have new seasons of those shows airing by the time the online streaming channel starts in late 2019. They don’t have to cancel them all.
But they are. And I’m dreading the possibility that Jessica Jones and Punisher will be next on the chopping block. Unless AMC, HULU, ABC, or HBO is willing to take these Mature-Rated shows.
