It’s very exciting to know that #ThePunisher will get his own Netflix TV series (YES!!). Jon Bernthal will reprise the role as Frank Castle (aka The Punisher) and Steve Lightfoot will help produce the show. It’ll be awhile before we find out when will the filming begin and when will it be released afterwords. Admittedly when I first heard about the announcement yesterday, I got really excited. So excited that I started posting left and right about it, coming back and editing the first post where first I announced that Marvel officially has given Netflix the green light do the standalone Punisher series before going on to post the first image teaser and then the first video teaser. It’s exactly what Punisher fans like me were hoping for.
I have big dreams and hopes for any Punisher series to be a huge success in both comic and TV form, you know. In fact, I’d be completely blown away if Marvel actually has The Punisher play the harp, especially in memory of his family, and do a musical number with his harp in one episode of the new Punisher series. And/Or see him play the harp in a future Punisher comic book straight from Becky Cloonan and Steve Dillon’s Punisher run. If they do an episode where The Punisher plays the harp in a musical number, perhaps he can sing a song using the phrase “One Batch, Two Batch. Penny and Dime” in the song. A phrase I hope he continues to say when Netflix starts making the Punisher series. And Becky and Steve, (or another Punisher writer and artist) can do a Punisher one-shot comic where The Punisher does play the harp in memory of his family when he’s not punishing criminals.
These are the dreams I have for The Punisher. Pipe dreams maybe, but then again maybe not. It all depends on what plans Marvel has for The Punisher in future comic and Netflix shows. Whether they’ll actually have The Punisher play the harp or not, I hope Marvel and Netflix likes the concept I made up, and I hope you like it, too.
