Grover is coming to my house. No kidding. There is a very special harp that I named Grover who is coming to my house this Thursday. And I’m so excited. Unlike all the other pedal harps I played in the past, Grover, my Camac Athena EX concert harp, is my very own brand new pedal harp I bought from the Virginia Harp Center through the Allegro Credit program. To celebrate this special milestone, I decided to designate this week as “Grover Week.” A week long celebration honoring Grover.
To honor Grover, I posted images of Grover from Sesame Street on Facebook like this one. A photo showing Super Grover 2.0 in an awesome setting.
He looks cool in his new Super Grover costume.
That’s not all. I’ve also been watching and downloading Youtube videos of Grover working as a waiter at Charlie’s Restaurant where his main customer is Mr. Johnson gets exasperated every time Grover ruins the order Johnson placed for him to take. Here’s a video of one of the best examples of this. This is perhaps my favorite of the Waiter Grover scenes that I remembered watching on Sesame Street years ago. This is a Mexican restaurant scene where Grover had to sing and dance whenever he brings out a plate to give to the customer who orders it. In this case, it’s Mr. Johnson who ordered 3 out of 4 specials that went all over the floor every time Grover dance while singing “Olè Olè Olè Olè!”
When my harp Grover comes on Thursday, this site will be full of harp photos of Grover and me dressed as The Punisher.
Sherry Konkus lives in Owosso, MI. She is the proud owner of the Camac Athena EX Concert Grand Harp named “Grover” and Camac Mademoiselle named “Ernie.” She’s also the proud author of The Punisher Harp Zone. Sherry is the one who came up with the idea of portraying The Punisher from Marvel Comics as the punishing harpist who plays the harp in memory of his family who was killed by the mob years ago.
