Marvel's The Punisher Season 2 is a Huge Hit!

Framed for the murder of 3 women.

Marvel’s The Punisher Season 2, which is now streaming on Netflix, is a huge blockbuster thanks especially to Jon Bernthal’s amazing masterful performance as Frank Castle, The Punisher and has proven to everyone time and time again that he is The Definitive Punisher hands down. Everyone else who took part in the making of Punisher Season 2 have all done a wonderful job producing and acting out their respective roles to create such an adventurous masterpiece in Marvel TV entertainment that’s right up there with Daredevil.

I do have a major problem with Punisher Season 2, though. It has to do with music. Believe it or not, There are no Punisher guitar scenes found anywhere in the season besides the band on stage at the Roadhouse where Punisher – *warning spoilers* – fell in love with Ruth, a single mother and bartender who invited him over to spend the night at her house. There they kiss and kiss as they slept together just like what Frank had done with his late wife Maria.

Enjoying himself at the bar.

Another problem I have with Season 2? No Micro appearing (He’s happy being with his family. Leave him alone!), no Frank reading literature or playing guitar or harp 🙁 (He’s got a sassy teenage girl to protect! No time to make music or read books, pal!), no utterance of “One Batch, Two Batch. Penny and Dime.”, and a lot of things that I honestly don’t like about that sassy wisecracking teenager Amy Bendix (especially when she meddles with Karen and Frank when they were about to kiss each other in “The Abyss” the one and only episode where #Kastle Lives!) and the two S2 villains, John Pilgrim, a former neo-Nazi who uses his Christian Fundamentalist beliefs to commit murderous acts and works for a Russian Crime Family, and Krista Dumont who behaves more like Harley Quinn than a psychiatrist who’s supposed to help Billy Russo with his mental problem.

Best line of the whole season.

If you asked me I prefer Punisher Season 1, where we got Micro, lots of #Kastle, the recurring nightmares of Frank witnessing the murder of his wife, Billy being CEO of Anvil and close friends to Frank, his family, and Dinah and her second partner Sam Stein who was eventually killed by Billy who betrayed them all, and flashbacks to the time where Frank and Billy served in the military, Rawlins getting exactly what was coming to him for setting Frank and his family up for the fall, terrific lines such as, “Yes! Yes! That’s right you scary beautiful man!”, the hilarious sandwich scene, the pink gun, The utterance of the phrase “One Batch, Two Batch. Penny and Dime.” and the best of all Frank and Micro playing guitar!

That is what got me all pumped up for Punisher Season 1 when it premiered in November of 2017. Frank playing guitar whether in flashbacks or in Micro’s basement. I was thrilled over it along with seeing Micro play guitar, developing guitar playing skills just like Frank over time. I was hoping that Billy, the Judas Goat, will do the same thing and play guitar in Season 2 while recovering from getting his face smashed by Frank at the carousel where Frank’s family got killed. Especially since Ben Barnes, who played Billy, actually plays guitar along with various other instruments himself. But unfortunately none of what I was hoping for has ever happened in Season 2. 🙁

Someone’s going to get his arse kicked!

But there are parts to Season 2 that I find very likeable. Take “The Abyss” episode that celebrates the #Kastle ship for example.

Karen: “Doesn’t matter, it doesn’t matter what you did. It doesn’t change how I feel about you.”

And then there’s Frank’s hilarious liner from “Trouble the Water,”

“They died from terminal stupidity!”

And Amy’s remark,

“So did that go really good or really bad?” *Frank gives her the thumbs up* “Well, what does bad look like?”

Two thumbs up.

Frank liking pancakes. Frank visiting his wife’s grave. Billy’s mask used to cover up his slightly scarred face which I honestly love better than what is seen in the comics. Frank accepting his role as The Punisher. Billy getting what was coming to him by both Dinah and Frank which is one of the two sad parts to the seasonal finale. The second one is the moving touching scene at the bus stop where Frank and Amy gave each other a tearful hug before Amy leaves on the bus to a much happier life in Florida.

A tearful goodbye

And finally, at very end of Season 2, we see the final epic scene showing Frank going full Punisher mode at a warehouse full of rival gangs revealing a special tribute to the late great Stan Lee (Excelsior!!) that reads, “In loving memory of Stan Lee.”

Jon Bernthal is The Punisher!
Excelsior!!

Gosh, I hope/pray that Netflix renews The Punisher for Season 3. Because just seeing 2 explosive seasons of The Punisher is not enough. Steve Lightfoot, the producer and writer of the show, wanted to create 10 Seasons of Punisher, himself. Because there must be more to Jon Bernthal’s star-studded Punisher than just 2 seasons of Punisher and only one season of Daredevil. And speaking of Daredevil, the petition to bring back Daredevil now has over 200,000 signatures and it still growing. And no wonder. That show is just as good as The Punisher that it deserves to be brought back and renewed for Season 4, 5, whatever the number of seasons needed to make Daredevil and The Punisher, the 2 greatest Marvel shows on television. None of both shows deserve to be canceled all because of some petty disagreements that Netflix and Disney are having concerning Disney’s new streaming network and the money needed to keep the shows on the air.

I signed that petition twice. KingPin (Vincent D’Onofrio) signed and endorse it. Daredevil (Charlie Cox) endorsed it. A lot of people are signing and campaigning for Daredevil’s return. You should take part in this, too. And politely encourage Netflix to keep Punisher on their streaming network and renew it for Season 3. We certainly want more of Jon Bernthal’s Punisher – guns, guitars, skulls, and harps in all – and more #Kastle!
