In 1991, a Captain America Comic Book made a startling prediction about Frank joining Hydra.

After all the events of the Secret Empire storyline came to an end months ago, I still had the nerve to shout out, FRANK! HOW COULD YOU!!” when any reference to Frank’s infamous choice is brought up. Here’s something that I just found out today on Facebook that got me amazed. Someone who is a part of The Punisher FB group posted this panel from a classic 90s’ Captain America comic book issue.

This panel came from Captain America Annual #10 (1991), written by D.G. Chichester and illustrated by Mike Manley. This panel, believe it or not, predicted that The Punisher will join forces with Hydra many years later in the 2016-2017 Secret Empire storyline.

An evil version of Steve Rogers emerges to become the head honcho of Hydra. He took over the US and duped Frank into joining forces with Hydra on promises of using the Cosmic Cube to bring his family back from the dead and making him a leader of a Punisher themed army. Blindly, Frank joined Hydra, just as predicted in the panel above only to realize what a huge and foolish mistake he made. Thus, he denouncing his ties to Hydra and went on a crusade to make Hydra pay for tricking him into joining their side.

He’s out on the road to redemption in Matthew Rosenberg’s new Punisher run at this time. But who a thought that over twenty-five years ago, a Marvel villain correctly predicted that The Punisher will join forces with Hydra sometime in the future?

Sherry Konkus lives in Owosso, MI. She is the proud owner of the Camac Athena EX Concert Grand Harp named "Grover" and is also the proud author of The Punisher Harp Zone. Sherry is the one who came up with the idea of portraying The Punisher from Marvel Comics as the punishing harpist who plays the harp in memory of his family who was killed by the mob years ago.
